Hosting a Child

    Family and friends the Morell Family is embarking on a new adventure this summer.  One that I am sure will change us, and one that we pray will change the future of one little boy named Teddy.  We have signed up with New Horizons for Children (NHFC) a nonprofit Christian organization to bring a little six (almost seven) year old boy from China to stay with us this summer.  The intent of hosting is to bring a child who has been orphaned into the loving environment of a family and to allow the child to feel Christ's love. 

In doing so we bring attention to the ONE.  Do you know there are between 14-15 million (depending on which stats you read) children classified as orphans in the world? That number is mind boggling.  This is something my soul has wrestled with since really becoming aware of the situation that so many children grow up with.  The last time we were in China, my heart broke knowing as I held my precious Claire, that there were equally wonderful, amazing children lying in cribs and languishing in orphanages devalued, diminished, and discarded.  It is not just a problem in China, that is just were my eyes were opened, it is a problem we have throughout the world.  So how do you and I help 15 million orphans?  Most likely we won't be able to solve the orphan crisis in the world, BUT what if we all did a little something to help?  If we all did a little something to help Teddy, I KNOW that we can change his future.  Our greatest prayer is to advocate for Teddy, to get his cute little giggly face out there so that his forever family can find him.  

We would love to have you join us in our journey; in fact we NEED you to join us in our journey.  The idea of packing his bags at the end of July and sending him back to his orphanage kills us.  So please join us in our pursuit to find a family for him, Teddy will go back to China at the end of July (that is how hosting works), but knowing a family has found him, will make all the difference.   We need people to spread the word, to pray, to think who else they can tell about him.  Share his picture; share his story...so many ways to help.  We know everyone’s' situation is different and each of us has a path to walk and our intent is not to ignite guilt and make you feel bad.  Not everyone is called to adopt (though I think you are missing out if you are not! :)), not everyone has the funds to contribute financially, but many have talents that we aren't even aware of- that can help Teddy.  And we all can pray!  Our family will need your prayers and Teddy will need your prayers! And if we all network together, WE CAN find his family!  

First things first, we need to get him here! We are responsible for raising the funds to pay for his travel to the States.  There is a button that you can click on if you feel inspired to donate.  We are honestly behind in our timeline, we were supposed to have the first $1600 turned in already but because we joined in at the very last moment possible, New Horizons is giving us a little extra time.  No amount is too small, it will all add up.  The funds are collected through the non-profit fundraising site that New Horizons as set up for us.  It goes directly to them, not us, and it is our understanding that they will provide you with receipt for the donation.
